Photographing dance using a FujiFilm

Posted on april 20, 2016april 21, 2016

Sometimes I have the opportunity to take photos at a dance performance.
Photographing dance is like Sports Photography at very low lights. An other side issue, depending on how loud the music is and if your placed between seated audience, you have to operate unnoticed.
I have photographed some Flamenco Dance and Classical Indian Dance. The big challenge is, just like Sports, timing. Movement, motions are very precise. Sometimes the Burst mode is very handy to shoot with. But this could be very annoying for the people next tot you or even the dancers. Shooting Raw could made your camera slow when shooting Bulk mode.
For this kind of occasions I use my Fuji X-e2 with the Fujinon XF 50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR and the Fujinon XF 16-55mm f/2.8. With the latest firmware update of the X-e2 you can select electronic Shutter. I also photographed in jpg, and I was very surprised by the results of it. I do not know very well the different between Jpg Normal and Fine.
