It seems to me as if you were not using flash on this zu set (or at a very very low level setting). Is that right? It often results in far nicer images, and it is also less straining on the artists. We only had a point-and-shoot camera with us and sadly had to use the flash (sorry mike :/ ). I wasn’t sure they would allow me to use my F100 . Not that I have a great experience in taking concert photos anyway :). Your pics
are awesome! There’s much more soul in them than you normally get.
This seems to be more of a picture of Mike Patton’s fist than a picture of Mike Patton. The framing is TOO tight, and there’s too much fist and not enough face. I’m not crazy about the color treatment, the overly grainy/noisy quality, or the DOF that renders his face too soft. It unfortunately doesn’t put me in the moment.

I like the far left framing. I like the expression. I really like the color and grain for this shot….
I’m not too happy with the front of his fist being the center of attention, though. It’s the first thing your eye looks at – then you go to the expression…. maybe if he were just "a little" more in the frame, his hand wouldn’t be so distracting!

I agree word for word with Faithdesired on this one. If is fist was more subdued it would be a great shot.

the expression is really nice and composition too. the black bar blurring into the frame is a bit distracting though
